MHQ Vehicle Sanitizing Procedures
In order to ensure the safety of our employees and customers, the following procedures are required to minimize the risk of an employee or customer coming in contact with COVID-19.
Vehicles coming into the shop
- An employee will be designated by the shop manager or GM to bring a vehicle in from the yard. They will wear nitrile or latex gloves and masks to do this.
- Prior to the vehicle coming in the building, the following 23 steps must be taken using an approved disinfectant to clean the high touch areas of the vehicle:
- Exterior door handles, trunk lid/rear hatch release buttons and touch points
- Steering wheel, including buttons, directional and other column controls
- Center console including exterior control heads, radios, mics and armrest
- Gear selector
- Radio/HVAC controls
- Touch screen if equipped
- Start/stop button if equipped
- Driver’s seat door armrest, and center console
- Window/seat/mirror controls/grab handles
- Rear view mirror
- Seatbelt buckle and anchor for all seats
- Keys or key fob
- After market equipment, barriers and restraints for prisoners or K-9
- Weapon mounts
- Fire extinguisher
- Cargo boxes (rear and or equipment trays)
- Hood release, hood prop rod
- Headlight control
- Glove box access
- Spotlight handle/switch
- Interior dome light/switch
- Any other touch points will be wiped down as well
Vehicles ready for customer pick up
This will be completed prior to staging in the “Delivery Line”.
- Shop manager or designated employee will perform the same cleaning tasks as listed previously with an approved disinfectant as part of final prep prior to customer/internal pick up.
- Place a bottle of hand sanitizer in the vehicle with the document stating that the vehicle was sanitized and what was performed.
Vehicles delivered to customer
- The driver delivering a vehicle to a customer will sanitize any and all touch points including but not limited to the following:
- Driver’s seat door handles
- Steering wheel, including buttons, directional and other column controls
- Gear selector
- Radio/HVAC controls
- Touch screen if equipped
- Start/stop button if equipped
- Driver door armrest, and center console
- Window/seat/mirror controls/grab handles
- Rear view mirror
- Seatbelt buckle and anchor for driver’s seat area
- Keys or key fob
