We’re proud to have upfitted more than 100,000 special-purpose vehicles ranging from police cars, specialized law enforcement cars and trucks to motorcycles and SUVs to heavy-duty trucks. We’ve earned the trust of numerous state and municipal organizations and have fulfilled dozens of multi-year cooperative purchasing agreements – many on a repeat basis. We’re a Ford Top 10 Fleet Dealer and are authorized to provide Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and Toyota vehicles. We even provide Polaris and Kawasaki ATV brands, too. Our Truck Division provides Ford, International, and Freightliner trucks. Our technologies, strict quality control systems and personal desire for perfection mean that customers are satisfied and refer us to others.

Company History

1979
MHQ is established by Charles Ribakoff, whose family-owned and operated car, truck, and leasing equipment companies and chain of auto dealerships sold more Fords than any other dealership in New England.
1979
On behalf of Ford, Charles begins selling and delivering municipal vehicles and leases a two-bay garage behind a local market.
1981
MHQ determines the advantages of purchasing materials in bulk, producing the entire vehicle in one location. The company moves to a six-bay garage attached to a gas station.
1985
MHQ Truck Equipment opens in a new facility in Shrewsbury, MA. The truck operation is kept in house, enabling the company to operate at better costs to their customers while controlling the production process.
1989
MHQ moves to a five-acre former dealership site with 40,000 square feet in Marlboro, MA, offering warranty mechanical service, body and paint work, and a retail store which sells public safety gear, uniforms and tactical equipment.
2004
MHQ opens a new location in West Hartford, CT.
2005
MHQ moves to its current location on 17 acres of land and an 80,000 square foot facility in Marlboro, MA.
2009-2010
Branches in Lexington, KY, Albuquerque, NM and Tempe, AZ are established.
2013
MHQ expands its West Hartford, CT to Middletown, CT; a location four times its original size.
2016
MHQ Truck Equipment expands to a more efficient facility in Oxford, MA.
2018-2019
MHQ introduces Advantage Build, packaging the most popular options into three equipment levels, and providing dedicated inventory to accelerate delivery time. Advantage Build for trucks is added soon after.
2019
MHQ leadership is transferred to Patty Ribakoff.
2021
MHQ is the largest provider of public safety vehicles in the United States, having upfitted and delivered more than 100,000 public safety and public works vehicles.
